Admission to the B.Tech. programs at Purnea College of Engineering (PCE), Purnea, is conducted in accordance with the admission processes prescribed by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB).

The admission process is conducted through the following three routes, as applicable:
1. Admission through UGEAC (Based on JEE Main)
UGEAC stands for Undergraduate Engineering Admission Counselling. It is the counselling process conducted by BCECEB for admission to B.E./B.Tech. programmes in participating engineering institutions.
For the UGEAC route, admission is based on the candidate’s JEE (Main) Paper-I performance, as prescribed for the respective academic session.
UGEAC Admission Process
Step 1: Appear in JEE (Main)
Candidates must appear in JEE (Main) Paper-I (B.E./B.Tech.) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Step 2: Obtain JEE Main Score
Candidates must obtain a valid JEE Main score as required for UGEAC counselling.
Step 3: UGEAC Registration
Eligible candidates register online for UGEAC through the BCECEB portal.
Step 4: Submit Application Form
Candidates enter their personal, academic, JEE Main, and other required details; upload documents; and pay the prescribed application fee.
Step 5: UGEAC Rank/Merit List
BCECEB prepares and publishes the UGEAC rank/merit list in accordance with the applicable rules.
Step 6: Choice Filling
Candidates select their preferred colleges and B.Tech. branches, including available choices at Purnea College of Engineering.
Step 7: Choice Locking
Candidates review and lock their choices within the prescribed deadline.
Step 8: Seat Allotment
Seats are allotted on the basis of merit/rank, category, choice preference, seat availability, and applicable counselling rules.
Step 9: Provisional Allotment Order
Candidates allotted a seat should download the provisional allotment order.
Step 10: Document Verification
Candidates report to the designated centre/college with the required original documents and photocopies for verification.
Step 11: Fee Payment
Candidates pay the prescribed admission/college fee within the specified time.
2. Admission through BCECE Entrance Examination (Based on BCECEB Rank/Merit)
BCECE stands for Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. It is an entrance examination conducted by BCECEB for admission to specified undergraduate professional courses in Bihar.
Candidates seeking admission through the BCECE route must appear for the BCECE examination and participate in the subsequent counselling process, as applicable to the relevant course and academic session.
BCECE Admission Process
Step 1: BCECE Registration
Candidates register online through the official BCECEB portal.
Step 2: Fill BCECE Application Form
Candidates provide personal, academic and other required information.
Step 3: Select Subject Group
Candidates select the appropriate subject group, such as:
PCM – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
PCB – Physics, Chemistry and Biology
PCMB – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology
The appropriate subject group depends on the eligibility and course requirements.
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
Candidates upload the prescribed photograph, signature and other documents, wherever required.
Step 5: Application Fee Payment
Candidates pay the prescribed BCECE application fee through the available payment facility.
Step 6: Download Admit Card
Eligible candidates download the BCECE admit card from the official BCECEB portal.
Step 7: Appear in BCECE Examination
Candidates appear for the BCECE examination according to the prescribed schedule and subject group.
Step 8: Result and Rank Card
BCECEB publishes the examination result/rank card.
Step 9: Counselling Registration
Eligible candidates register for the counselling process conducted by BCECEB.
Step 10: Choice Filling
Candidates select their preferred colleges and courses based on their eligibility and available options.
Step 11: Choice Locking
Candidates finalize and lock their choices within the prescribed deadline.
Step 12: Seat Allotment
Seats are allotted based on rank/merit, category, choice preference, seat availability, and applicable rules.
Step 13: Document Verification
Candidates complete the prescribed document verification process.
Step 14: Fee Payment
Candidates pay the prescribed admission fee.
⁣ 3. BCECE (LE)—Lateral Entry Admission directly to 2nd Year B.Tech. for eligible Diploma/B.Sc. candidates
BCECE (LE) stands for Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination – Lateral Entry. It provides an opportunity for eligible candidates to gain direct admission to the 2nd year (3rd semester) of B.Tech.
This route is applicable to eligible candidates with the prescribed diploma in Engineering/Technology or B.Sc. qualification, subject to the eligibility conditions, branch requirements, availability of seats, and the rules prescribed by BCECEB for the respective academic session.
Eligibility for BCECE (LE)
Candidates should fulfil the eligibility requirements prescribed in the latest BCECE (LE) prospectus.
A. Diploma Candidates
Candidates should generally:,

  • Have passed a Diploma in Engineering/Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Fulfil the prescribed minimum percentage/marks requirement.
  • Possess a Diploma in an eligible/relevant engineering discipline for the desired B.Tech. branch.
  • Fulfil applicable residence/domicile, category and reservation requirements.
  • Satisfy all other conditions prescribed by BCECEB.

B. B.Sc. Candidates
Eligible B.Sc. candidates may also apply for lateral-entry admission, subject to the conditions prescribed by BCECEB. Candidates should generally:

  • Possess a recognized B.Sc. degree.
  • Have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 level or at the B.Sc. level, as required under the applicable rules.
  • Fulfil the prescribed minimum qualifying marks.
  • Satisfy the prescribed academic and subject requirements.
  • Fulfil applicable residence/domicile and reservation requirements.
  • Meet all other conditions specified in the latest BCECE (LE) prospectus.
